QUESTION: Are there any reasons not to erase an online session?

ANSWER:

Although advisable from a privacy/security standpoint, the deletion of an online session could prove somewhat impractical to certain users. When an online session is erased cookies and cache from that session are deleted. That means that Web sites visited during the session will no longer remember the user's identity. Therefore, he/she will have to log in next time he/she visits a site on which he/she has created a user account. Also, any personalized Web site content based on cookies will be lost.

Another potential inconvenience stemming from the deletion of cache is the fact that it may slow down browsing. The temporary files stored in the computer's cache enable the browser to open some previously visited Web sites directly from the hard disk, rather than from the Web. If the cache files are deleted, the Web pages must be loaded from the remote Web server. The difference in download time, however, will be minimal — if detectable at all.
